Litre of Light

As part of the “Liter of Light” international organisation’s campaign to light up the homes of those without electricity, EWB-UP has taken on the LOL project to provide light and transfer engineering knowledge to a community in one of Mamelodi’s skwatta-camps. Sustainability is the backbone of all of EWB projects to ensure lasting solutions and empowered communities instead of dependent communities. It is in this frame of thinking that we align all objectives of the LOL project with the transfer of knowledge and less of contracting work in communities. This project is being done in partnership with Tuks Village.

This project is a continuation of last year’s Litre of Light project. The litre of light project is about using 2L bottles filled with water and bleach . The water in the 2 L bottle will reflect light rays and help provide a daylight solution. The folowing link can be used to see a version of the light of light project being implemented. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-Fpsw_yYPg
