Biodiesel / Biogas Project

EWB-Unisa is working on starting a biodiesel project from waste cooking oil. We have masters students who believes that the process can be improved and we are working hard to get necessary equipment for them to do their tests and implementation.

This a project where EWB-Unisa is partnering with the Unisa’s Waste to Energy Project as well as the Institute of Social and Health Sciences (ISHS) to bring about awareness of the benefits of biogas into the Lenasia community. This project is also based on the notion that exposure is very important into to getting a community accept the technology. The biodigester is built at the Unisa ISHS site in Lenasia for the community to appreciate the technology. The purpose of this structure is also to educate the community about the benefits of using biogas as a form of energy.
