Role Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Program Support Intern with built environment training/qualification (e.g., Civil Engineering, Architecture, Urban Planning, or related fields) to join our Johannesburg-based team. In this dynamic role, you will support technical project scoping and the engagement of technical volunteers, assist with the implementation of community-focused projects, and provide coordination and administrative support across EWB-SA programs.
Responsibilities:

Technical Support and Scoping for the Just Infrastructure Lab:
- Assist in developing project scopes for community infrastructure projects in collaboration with the team.
- Support technical assessments, including field visits when necessary.
- Collaborate with technical volunteers and professionals to provide engineering or design input.
- Research innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions tailored to project needs.

Volunteer Coordination and Management:
- Engage with technical volunteers, ensuring their contributions align with project goals.
- Maintain and manage a database of technical volunteers, tracking expertise and availability.
- Assist in onboarding, supporting, and recognizing volunteers throughout their engagement.

Program Coordination & Administration:
- Provide administrative support for programs, including scheduling, communication, and reporting.
- Coordinate logistics for program activities, events, and workshops.
- Document program outcomes, best practices, and lessons learned.

Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with the EWB-SA team and partners to ensure effective program delivery.
Requirements:
- Qualification/training in a built environment discipline (e.g., Civil Engineering, Architecture, Urban Planning)
- Youth need to be Black South African citizens (African, Indian or Coloured), born in South Africa
- Aged between 18 to 28 years old
- Unemployed
- Available and willing to work a fixed-term 12-month contract
- Should not be studying full-time in the year of employment (December 2024– November 2025)
- Should not have participated or been registered on the YES programme before
- Based in Johannesburg with the ability to travel occasionally for project site visits or events (travel covered by EWB-SA)

We are looking for a creative and organized Marketing & Program Support Intern to join our Johannesburg-based team. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for storytelling, social impact, and making a difference. You will assist in marketing and communication efforts while supporting the coordination and administration of EWB-SA programs.
Responsibilities:

Marketing and Communications:
- Develop and collate content for EWB-SA’s social media platforms, website, and newsletters.
- Support the promotion of events, workshops, and campaigns across digital and traditional platforms.
- Work with the team to ensure consistent branding and messaging across platforms.

Program Coordination:
- Help plan and execute EWB-SA programs, workshops, and events.
- Assist in scheduling, tracking deliverables, and maintaining communication with stakeholders.
- Document program activities and maintain accurate databases and reports.

Administrative Support:
- Handle administrative tasks such as meeting scheduling, minute-taking, and email correspondence.
- Assist with event logistics, including venue booking, catering, and participant registration.
- Support the maintenance of program records, budgets, and inventories.
Requirements:
- Some experience in event coordination, marketing, or program support (voluntary or professional).
